Julie Makarewicz is a former newspaper reporter with more than 30 years experience writing a variety of news and feature stories for daily and weekly newspapers. She earned her degree in journalism from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Before switching her major to journalism she nearly completed a teaching degree and loves how her career at TK now combines her love of writing with her strong interest in education. She grew up on a small farm in Indiana before moving to Michigan and making her home with her husband near Middleville. She has two sons, who are both TK graduates, and enjoys spending time with family more than anything. She also loves to read, ride her bicycle, hike, watch Hoosier basketball and enjoys being outside and traveling.
