DeVries was recognized when a film crew from WGVU came to her classroom last week and presented her with a certificate.
They also gave the entire classroom a pizza party!
DeVries was nominated by one of her students Andee Webster. Andee said Mrs. DeVries makes everything fun in the classroom.
Some of the special events Mrs. DeVries does with her students include signing and signing the National Anthem at a Grand Rapids Griffins hockey game and at a Whitecaps baseball game.
DeVries said she tries to do something special every month in her classroom.
She said she was honored by the award. "I love my students and I love my job," she said.
