TK Class of 2017 Names Top 10 Students

Hayley Bashore

Hayley Bashore has been a member of the swim, tennis and basketball teams for four years and served as senior captain in all three sports. She is vice president of the National Honor Society, a member of Business Professionals of America, Teens Against Tobacco Use, MiTK News, and Big brothers/Big Sisters.

She volunteers to help special needs students with swimming, volunteers at the Barry County Animal Shelter, is a youth basketball coach, Gun Lake Community Church teaching assistant, and founding member of the  Quidditch 'Ville Cup.

Her hobbies include being around animals, especially cats, quilting, athletics and staying involved in the community.

She lists her greatest accomplishments in high school as starting an annual Quidditch 'Ville Cup tournament at the school, being a five-time all-conference achiever including four times in swimming. She's also been a Division 1 state qualifier twice in swimming and was named most valuable player her senior year on the swim team.

She plans to attend Ball State University in Muncie, IN, to study advertising and digital media. She also plans to join both the ballroom and Latin dance clubs.

 

Breana Bouchard

Breana is a member of the National Honor Society, has been on the soccer and golf teams and was a talent show participant in 2016 and 2017.  She is also a member of the Teens Against Tobacco Use.

Her hobbies include hiking, biking and camping. She lists her greatest accomplishments in high school as being a member of the OK Gold soccer conference championship team in 2015 and 2016 and helping create the Quidditch  'Ville Cup.

She plans to attend Central Michigan University and will be in the honors program. She has not determined a major field of study yet.

 

Derek Brandon

Derek Brandon has been a member of the soccer, basketball and track teams. He is also a member of National Honor Society.

He volunteers for the Dare2Dream Foundation and Roanoke Ranch for Kids. He's volunteered to teach children about robotics and computer science last summer.

He enjoys being with friends, playing video games and acting.

He lists his greatest accomplishments as being in the top 10 for this class, earning a senior year grade point average of 4.5 and scoring 1340 on his SAT.

He plans to study computer science at California State University in Northridge for one year then transfer to the University of Southern California while he continues pursuing his acting career.

 

Rachael Gorton

Rachael Gorton has been a member of the cross country team four years and served as captain her senior year, track team for three years, student council for three years, and National Honor Society.

She also is a member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, The Circle of Giving and Teens Against Tobacco Use.

Her hobbies include running, hiking, camping, hammocking, and rollerblading.

She lists her greatest accomplishment in high school as running in the cross country state finals all four years and being in the top 10 in her class.

She plans to attend Central Michigan University to possibly study medicine.

 

Madeline Hutchins

Madeline Hutchins is a member of the varsity soccer team for three years, National Honor Society and an AP Scholar with Honors.

She has volunteers with Macenzie's Animal Sanctuary, coaches AYSO soccer, tutors, and is a member of Teens Against Tobacco Use.

Her hobbies include playing piano, playing soccer, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

She lists here greatest accomplishments at TK as being named in the top 10 of her class.

She plans to attend the University of Findlay in Ohio to study pharmacy and play soccer.

 

Luke Noah

Luke Noah has been a varsity member of the cross country and track teams all four years. He was named all-state in track in 2016 and all-state in cross country in 2017. He serves as the National Honor Society President and was named Rotary Student of the Month. He was also named a Fox Motor Sports Prep Athlete of the Week and is an AP Scholar with Distinction.

He is a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Teens Against Tobacco Use.

His hobbies include running and playing the piano.

He lists his greatest accomplishments in high school as being a member of two conference championship teams – one in track and one in cross country. He also lists being awarded an AP Scholar with Distinction status due to his achievements on AP tests.

Noah plans to attend Michigan State University where he will run cross country and track. He plans to pursue a medical career and will be in the Lymon Briggs honor program at MSU.

 

Taylor Pratt

Taylor Pratt has been a member of the volleyball team for three years serving as captain for two years; golf team one year; basketball team four years serving as captain for two years and named the offensive most valuable player her freshman year; soccer team for four years serving as captain for two years and named the defensive most valuable player for three years. She was also named soccer all-conference honorable mention her junior year, all-district her junior year and academic all-state her junior year.

She has participated in the TK talent show for two years, Women in Sports Leadership Conference in 2016 and Linkers one year. She is also a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Quidditch 'Ville Cup, helped with soccer, basketball, volleyball and golf camps for many years, coached a little league girls basketball team, volunteers as a referee for younger girls' basketball games, is a certified soccer referee, helped with the Amway picnic and attended the Global Leadership Summer.

She enjoys being with friends and family, camping, kayaking, hammocking, watching movies and playing sports.

She lists here greatest accomplishment in high school as being in the top 10 for her class, being a tri-sport athlete, and being a member of the basketball team this year that placed first in Class A for academic all-state and second overall in the state.

She plans to attend Cornerstone University to study pre-physical therapy and continue playing soccer.

 

Scott Shumway

Scott Shumway has been a member of band for four years and ran cross country one year.  He has also helped with lighting, sound and web design for the play and musical during his sophomore year and has been involved with the MiTK News school announcements. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is also a 2017 finalist in the Meijer Great Choices Film Festival.

He volunteers with Kids Food Basket, Rotary Club spaghetti dinners, roadside cleanups with the Environmental Action Council and serves in tech support at his church. He is also employed as a cashier at Middleville Marketplace.

His hobbies include coin collecting, plane spotting and traveling. He also enjoys running and reading.

He lists his greatest accomplishments in high school as being on the honor roll every year and making the top 10 in his class. He was also able to dual enroll at Kellogg Community College for college credit in English.

He plans to attend Michigan State University Honors College to major in computer science and possibly journalism. He is also looking forward to a trip to Europe next year.

 

Alyvia Thorne

Alyvia Thorne has been a member of the soccer and basketball teams and has volunteered as a coach for youth basketball and soccer. Her hobbies include reading, sports and sleeping.

She lists her greatest accomplishments in high school as being in the top 10 for her class, being a member of the two-time soccer conference championship team, and making the soccer all-state third team.

She plans to attend Spring Arbor University where she will continue playing soccer while pursuing an undergraduate degree.

 

Alex Wilkinson

Alex Wilkinson serves as the student council president, varsity volleyball captain in her senior year, varsity tennis captain in her senior year and is a member of the National Honor Society, Circle of Giving, Teens Against Tobacco Use, Class Advisory, and Team Trojan.

She is involved in Young Life, is active in Holy Family youth group and in the PIER Ministry Leadership Team at Holy Family.

Her hobbies include worshipping Jesus and spending time at church, being involved in athletics and exercising, and spending time with family and friends.

She lists here greatest accomplishment at TK as qualifying for state in tennis.

She plans to attend Siena Heights University to double major in religious studies and mathematics.
